Jamboree’s goal is to create living environments that foster learning, healthy living, and empowerment for families in our properties and surrounding neighborhood. A focus on academic achievement, career development, health and wellness, and community building boosts fitness, learning, earning potential, and community pride. Services focus on three areas of impact:

Youth learning and academic achievement

Robust after-school programs help students and teens flourish and boost academic achievement that fosters higher literacy and graduation rates. Activities include tutoring and homework assistance, college preparation, arts and crafts, and supervised play and social time. Many Jamboree sites have a fully equipped computer lab and some have a lending library. Communities are strengthened through education with tutoring that improves grades and Internet access for learning.

These customized programs are now further expanded to better serve kids and teens through a new approach to REACH Kids. Focused on solutions for kids who may not have previously had stable housing situations , this after-school program helps them envision a different future, helping them reach their full potential and build confidence for life. See our REACH Kids brochure.

Family health, wellness and vitality

Core principles of health and wellness are at the heart of all our resident services programs. Healthy living initiatives include free lunch and snack programs, nutritional cooking and exercise classes. Family events such as Jam!boree Day emphasize exercise, team-building, and fitness achievements. Along with access to local health care, these services have a long-range impact in the community.

Jamboree collaborates with community service partners to provide various types of health programs, access to food banks and emergency assistance. We bring in or provide life skill classes in computers, English, budgeting and resume writing.

Community building

This component is significant as it encourage residents to get to know each other and take an active role in their community. Community building gatherings include multi-cultural holiday celebrations, movie nights, and game nights, plus neighborhood involvement in safety and crime prevention.

Our pursuit is to build in quality housing and build up good in our families – as well as seniors and special needs – to bring out the best in them and in our neighborhoods and communities.
