In the U.S., more than one-half million men, women and children are homeless. Many others, including veterans, are at risk of homelessness. California tops the list by state. For Jamboree, that’s not okay. Hence, our fierce commitment to build more permanent supportive housing statewide specifically designed for those currently homeless and those at risk of homelessness.
As one of California's premier developers of permanent supportive housing, Jamboree creates quality affordable housing with permanent supportive services specially designed to accommodate and best serve those who are formerly homeless or living with mental illness. This customized design can include offices to house onsite staff, community spaces designed to facilitate private counseling or community building. It also includes fully furnished homes and floor plans that feature studio apartments near public transit that meet a City’s Single Resident Occupancy (SRO) requirements or two-bedroom apartments to promote family stability and long-term occupancy.

The success of Jamboree’s housing first model – a national best practice – is based on a business strategy that calls for a special needs assessment of every housing project we undertake – from designated funding and architectural design at the outset to strategic and innovative partnerships with property management, full-service partners and community service organizations for the long-term. Whenever possible, we seek to grow our capacity to help those who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, and/or who are living with a mental illness to thrive. We’re proud that more than 700 of our residents -- many of whom live with a disability -- are no longer homeless. They are stable and live with hope. As the largest developer of permanent supportive housing in Orange County, Jamboree’s award-winning approach features several models of permanent supportive housing, including single-family shared homes as well as both dedicated and integrated multifamily properties.
In the first-ever, county-wide study of its kind, Jamboree partnered with the University of California Irvine, United Way Orange County, Association of California Cities-OC, 2-1-1 Orange County, and the Hospital Association of Southern California to determine the real costs of homelessness to the community. See how more permanent supportive housing can save taxpayers millions of dollars in places like Orange County in this descriptive infographic or the study’s final Executive Summary. Released in September 2017, read the full 71-page report which includes how we might solve this growing challenge more permanently while saving money.
