In 2004, Woodglen Vista was at high risk of losing affordability and being converted to market-rate housing. But Jamboree intervened, acquiring and renovating the garden-style affordable family housing community in San Diego County to maintain long-term affordability for residents and raise the standards of the property.
Extensive rehabilitation efforts occurred in 2004 and again in 2017 to maintain the high-quality standards of the community. Interior unit renovations consisted of kitchen and bathroom upgrades with new cabinets, countertops, ENERGY STAR appliances, new paint and floor coverings. The community center and common amenities are re-designed to enhance interaction, accessibility, resident services and accommodate current needs of the residents. The pool area and balcony/patios allow residents to fully enjoy the year-round mild southern California climate just 18 miles east of the Pacific Ocean on State Route 52. A playground gives children a fun, safe place to play amidst landscaped greenbelts.
In line with Jamboree’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, the renovation included the installation of thermal solar water heaters as well as a grey-water irrigation system to conserve water and energy usage at the property. Dining and shopping are a short drive away. Woodglen Vista Park, Cajon Park, and local elementary and high schools are all an easy walk from Woodglen Vista in Santee, CA.
In partnership with WNC & Associates, a long-term tax credit investor partner, Jamboree’s goal is to preserve affordability of these apartment homes. Jamboree will continue to work closely with local government, partners, investors and property management to keep Woodglen Vista affordable and well maintained for many more years to come.
