Multigenerational Workforce Community Garden Grove
Church partnership creates family, senior housing, services
Wesley Village is an innovative, adaptive reuse property in Orange County that features multigenerational affordable housing and services in collaboration with local community partners. Through a unique partnership with the Garden Grove United Methodist Church, Jamboree entered into a 60-year ground lease with the church, repurposing 2.2 acres of excess parking space and unused vacant land, that will provide ongoing financial support for the church’s charitable activities. Learn how your church could turn unused land into a revenue source to reduce debt and grow a lasting legacy.
The redesigned church campus includes the addition of a family apartment building, senior apartment building and Head Start learning center. The two three-story residential buildings are home to families and seniors, and provide ample space for outdoor activities with a large outdoor deck atop the family building, a barbecue/dining area, tot lot, fitness areas, and landscaped spaces for recreation. Each building includes laundry facilities, and covered and uncovered parking spaces are provided for residents.
In Jamboree’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, Wesley Village is designed to achieve a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes certified Gold rating. This lowers energy consumption, provides a cost-saving benefit to and promotes the health of residents. The property is conveniently located near several public transportation options. A local high school, regional library, parks and shopping are walking distance to the property.
Jamboree’s Quality Development & Construction group served as the General Contractor. Partnering together, Jamboree and the church, along with the City of Garden Grove, investors and property management are committed to keeping Wesley Village well maintained and affordable for the long term.
