IRVINE, CA (October 9, 2012) – Jamboree Housing Corporation, one of California’s largest community development organizations specializing in affordable housing, has retained housing industry strategist Rebecca Clark to assist the company in identifying and assessing new business opportunities to complement Jamboree’s building activities in the state’s post-redevelopment environment.

Clark, CEO of San Francisco-headquartered Clark Consulting Group, will serve as Jamboree’s newly created Director of Innovations. She will work closely with Jamboree president Laura Archuleta, her executive team and the company’s board of directors, to determine new opportunities that best serve the community development organization as it seeks to expand its future building operations with such fee-based services as construction management and architectural design.

“During the 23 years that we have been improving California communities by acquiring, building and managing affordable housing, we have gained considerable knowledge and expertise in all facets of multi- housing development. We believe this expertise can be leveraged into other business activities such as fee management and consulting,” says Archuleta, who has been instrumental in orchestrating the company’s significant growth since becoming president of Jamboree in 1999.

“Working with Becky, we will expand and refine our short- and long-term strategies to diversify vertically while continuing to grow our core business of affordable housing acquisition, development and management,” she continues. “We believe our core competencies can be effectively transferred to such enterprises as design services and construction management, property management, project and financial consulting, expansion of our resident services, and pursuit of such new development opportunities as mixed-income housing and transit- oriented development.”

Prior to establishing her consulting firm, Clark was executive vice president with San Francisco-based BRIDGE Housing. During her career, she has served in top management positions with other leading affordable housing developers with responsibilities that range from chief executive officer to director of construction management and housing development.

“In this post-redevelopment environment, California’s affordable housing organizations need to determine if their previous operational path will sustain them into the future, and if not, relook at what their business options might be going forward,” says Clark. “I believe Jamboree’s sterling reputation – coupled with its diverse experience, financial strength, broad knowledge base and management resources – will serve it well as it seeks new opportunities to complement its development activities. Affordable housing developers are in a new world and need to prepare now for a future without redevelopment.” Clark earned a master’s degree in management from the Executive Program at Claremont Graduate University – Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management, and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona.
