In 2007, in a joint venture with Capital Valley Investments, Jamboree acquired and rehabilitated The Shenandoah, an existing apartment community in Sacramento’s Greenhaven/Pocket area that had suffered from deferred maintenance and aging infrastructure. Jamboree and Capital Valley Investments – whose team consists of uniquely qualified professionals with skills in all facets of real estate development and long-term asset stewardship – have partnered on multiple successful affordable housing communities in Northern California.
Elevating the quality of the community and preserving unit affordability for existing residents became priorities in developing the property. Extensive rehabilitation efforts included a new hot water system, new roofs, siding and energy-efficient dual glazed windows on the exteriors. New appliances, cabinetry, hall closets, plumbing fixtures, bathtubs and surrounds, heating and air conditioning systems, ceiling fans and window and floor coverings were installed in all units. Other amenities include a refurbished pool and upgraded laundry facilities.
The gated community is located just minutes from downtown Sacramento, shopping, restaurants, schools and is walking distance to several parks such as Bear Flag School Park, Seymour Park and the Sacramento and American River Recreation areas.
