L.A. County Multigenerational Workforce Community

Claremont award-winning senior, family affordable housing

Courier Place is one of only a few affordable, multigenerational, multifamily housing developments in California Located in Claremont, it is also Jamboree’s first multigenerational property and the first affordable, multigenerational project developed by the Los Angeles County Housing Authority. Local officials took a bold position to support this development. Jamboree went the extra mile in reaching out to residents – a very active citizenry – listening intently to and aligning with the priorities of city staff and residents. Claremont City Council’s 5-0 approval of Courier Place underscores the value of a strong public/private partnership in the development of affordable housing, especially in an infill site surrounded by existing neighborhoods.

Courier Place was developed with a multi-layered combination of funding, including first-time financing for a Jamboree community utilizing City of Industry Funds. In the face of challenging, budgetary times, they were committed to make Courier Place a reality and a long-term success.

The result is an award-winning, innovative community that meets the needs of seniors and families and features a pool, community center, patio, and playgrounds, as well as services provided by Jamboree’s Community Impact Group that are designed to create engagement between seniors and families.

Courier Place is near the Claremont Transportation Center, less than one-quarter mile from downtown Claremont Village and caddy-corner to the Claremont Colleges.

In Jamboree’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, the property is its first development to achieve a LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) for Homes Platinum rating. Courier Place exceeds Title 24 energy-efficiency standards by more than 35%.

With more than a dozen local, regional and national awards for architectural, multifamily, multigenerational and affordable housing excellence, the exemplary green design and construction represents a new standard of sustainability for quality affordable housing. It’s an architectural icon that’s the heart of this university town’s downtown village.
