Because basic shelter is only the beginning when it comes to improving the lives of lower-income residents of affordable housing communities, Jamboree has established an in-house Social Services division to assist our residents in maintaining their self-sufficiency. Our program, called Housing with HEART (Helping Educate, Activate and Respond Together) now operates at most Jamboree-owned properties, with activities varying by location. Needs are assessed and programs provided based on input from the residents themselves.

Services offered include health and safety classes; social activities; computer learning centers with Internet access; after-school tutoring; budgeting and parenting skills classes; home buying seminars; referrals to local agencies; and more. Residents of our senior communities enjoy a variety of services, including transportation to appointments and off-site events, as well as assistance with daily living activities.

Jamboree is proud that it was one of the first nonprofit housing providers to recognize the vital link between housing and on-site social services and to establish program parameters and delivery objectives. Because all of our Housing with HEART services are provided at little or no cost to residents, programming is available only as funding allows. Jamboree actively seeks financial support from foundations, corporations and concerned individuals, as well as in-kind contributions of computers, equipment, and supplies to support this worthwhile effort. We also recruit volunteers from the community to augment our staff by serving as tutors and program aides. Anyone wishing to support Housing with HEART is urged to contact us .
