February's grand opening of Alice Court Apartments in Laguna Beach unveiled 27 "efficiency" units offering 400 square feet of living space to those residing at the new construction property. Those attending the opening were impressed with theexterior character of Alice Court,which was designed to respect the local history of Laguna Beach. The craftsman style of homes found in the area is reflected in the architecture of the building. Interior courtyards and breezeways provoke an atmosphere of peace and awareness of the nearby ocean's presence. Housing with HEART will create a Resource Guide of services in the area and provide special activities on a quarterly basis such as financial planning, emergency preparedness, community safety, health education, and job search information. Local activity information will also be communicated through flyers and a community bulletin board. All staff will be trained on the use of available resource materials and issues related to the residents. One visit translates an understanding of the property's life-changing environment.
